Potential expansion of WFO-Oost Business Park
Plans are being developed for the potential expansion of WFO-Oost Business Park. The development builds on the existing economic character of the area and offers space for companies looking to grow, relocate or establish a new location.
The proposed expansion aims to strengthen the connection between the existing business park, the Het Grootslag greenhouse horticulture area and Seed Valley.
This will create a strong cluster where companies can innovate and grow faster, attract talent and collaborate. This strengthens employment and the business climate and helps address regional challenges.
The Municipality of Medemblik and the Province of North Holland have responded positively to the initiative and are jointly exploring the potential expansion of WFO-Oost Business Park.
Connected to the region
WFO-Oost Business Park is centrally located in West Friesland and forms an important economic cluster in the region. The potential expansion provides room to strengthen this position further.
Energy, accessibility, sustainability and careful spatial planning are key priorities in the development.

Energy and grid congestion
Grid congestion limits opportunities for companies looking to grow or establish a new location in many parts of West Friesland. A solution is envisaged for the potential expansion of WFO-Oost Business Park.
This means that large-business electricity connections may also be possible. This gives WFO-Oost a distinctive position in the region, particularly for companies with higher electricity requirements.

Centrally located and easily accessible
WFO-Oost is centrally located in West Friesland, close to the N307, N505 and A7. This makes the site easily accessible from across the region. The A7 provides good connections to the north and south, while the N505 provides a good east-west connection towards Lelystad.
Good accessibility is an important principle for the further development. Traffic studies are therefore being carried out to carefully assess accessibility and future traffic flows in the area.
Planning & process
Over the coming period, the plans will be developed further and the required studies and spatial planning procedures will be carried out.
This includes attention to accessibility, energy, sustainability and careful integration into the surrounding area.
The process takes place in coordination with the municipality, province and other stakeholders. The local community will also be involved in the development.
